The announcement extending the school holidays through Wednesday has been rescinded by the Aam Aadmi Party administration in Delhi, the nation’s capital. The Directorate of Education rescinded its order to extend the holidays one hour after it was issued. After deciding on a leave extension, the Delhi government’s Education Directorate will release a new circular on Sunday.
Order issued by mistake
All government and non-government schools in Delhi, the nation’s capital, extended their Saturday breaks due to the cold snap and fog. According to the Directorate of Education’s decree, schools will be closed till January 10. The Education Department stated in a recent ruling that the vacation order was mistakenly issued on Saturday, according to news agency ANI. It has been pulled right away. On Sunday, a final decision on this subject will be made.
That’s why the order to extend leave was issued
Actually, a cold wave is affecting majority of North India, including Delhi NCR. In Delhi, the melting cold has been at its worst over the past several days. The fog has made visibility very poor. During the day, very little sunshine is present. The heavy fog has also negatively impacted train and aircraft operations. To help the kids in this scenario, it has been agreed to prolong the winter vacation.
Situation of confusion on the issue of extending leave
Let us inform you that on Saturday, residents of the Delhi and NCR regions were observed enduring a severe cold spell for the third day in a row. The highest temperature was 15.2 degrees Celsius, four degrees below average, according to IMD. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was also included in the extremely low category in several locations.
IMD predicts that the effects of the cold wave and fog will last for a few more days. In the following two to three days, rain is another possibility. The Delhi Education Department is undecided on whether to extend the school holiday term in light of this. Previously, the Delhi administration had opted to keep schools closed owing to pollution in the city.
